The Last (Potluck) Supper

Thursday, June 12, 2025
Fireside Theater, Fort Atkinson

It’s 1979, and the Church Basement Ladies are preparing for a potluck dinner as part of the church’s Centennial Celebration. Even though it’s a celebration, times are tough and hard decisions will have to be made! Joining the ladies will be past parishioners who have gathered to share hot-dishes, desserts, and stories from the last 100 years. As the women work in the kitchen, shared memories burst into life through a series of flashbacks. Travel back to 1897 and meet Vivian’s grandmother; see Karin as a newlywed cautiously navigating the politics of the kitchen; and be there in 1944 when Mavis first barreled her way through the door.

Before enjoying the matinee performance, there will be time to visit the unique Fireside shops and have lunch. Entree choices are Braised Pork Belly, Supreme Cut Chicken Breast, or Thai Grilled Shrimp. Coach bus transportation to and from the Big Bend Park & Ride at I-43 and 164.

The Making of I Love Lucy

Thursday, August 14, 2025
University Center, Grayslake, IL

Journey back to the golden age of television to learn how this classic was created. Discover how it grew out of Lucy’s radio program, “My Favorite Husband.” Explore production techniques pioneered by Desi Arnaz, including the three-camera concept. And delve into the life stories of Lucy, Desi, and cast members Vivian Vance and William Frawley (who were not the original choices for Ethel and Fred Mertz). Remember the candy factory? Stomping grapes? Vitameatavegamin? These episodes all have fascinating back stories. This fun, nostalgic, and interactive presentation by humorist Todd Hunt is sure to be entertaining.

Before enjoying the matinee performance, we'll stop at 129 Center Cut in Grayslake for a delicious buffet lunch with choices including Arroz con Pollo, Spaghetti with Giant Meatballs, and Sauteed Chicken with Mushrooms. Coach bus transportation to and from the Mukwonago Park & Ride at I-43 and 83.
