Annie at Drury Lane

Wednesday, November 18
Oakbrook Terrace, IL

There was an idea to create a musical based on the Little Orphan Annie comic strip published in the 1920s. While doing research to write a book to base the musical on, author Thomas Meehan found little satisfactory material from the strips for a musical. He took the three main characters of Annie, Oliver Warbucks, and Sandy the dog and created his own story. In 1977, the Broadway musical Annie premiered and had a continuous run for nearly six years winning three Tony Awards, including Best Musical during that run.

Set in the 1930s New York during the Great Depression, Annie shares dreams filled with hope, optimism, and the power of family through well-known songs like “It’s the Hard Knock Life”, “Tomorrow”, and “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile”.

Drury Lane Theatre in Oakbrook Terrace, IL offers first-class theater productions and we’ll enjoy lunch onsite prior to the performance.

Bus pick-up and drop-off in Big Bend. Cost per person is $125. Guests are welcome. Full payment guarantees reservation. Reservations due October 26.
